The holidays are a very popular time to get engaged; its chilly outside and you don't ever want to loose that person you cuddle up next to, you're reminded of what really matters in your life and it's all about new beginnings. We have 12 holiday proposals that guarantee a "YES!"
12. 12 Days of Love – This is a romantic variation on the 12 days of Christmas, in reverse. 12 days before Christmas begin sending gifts. Each day send a messenger to either her work or home bearing an anonymous gift. First, 12 roses, then 11 Godiva chocolates, 10 love letters, 9 scented bath candles, 8 champagne glasses, 7 CDs of sexy love songs, 6 pairs of silk panties, 5 golden bracelets, 4 bottles of perfume, 3 pairs of shoes, 2 silver earrings – and finally, on the twelfth day, you arrive in person, bearing 1 bottle of champagne, 1 very important question and 1 diamond ring.
11. Tree Shopping - Go look for a tree together. Split up to find a good one and put the ring in a box under one you like. Then call her over and say “this looks like the perfect one.” When she sees the box, kneel down to pick it up, pull out the ring and ask her to marry you.
10. Tree Trimming - Decorate the tree together and have a specific new ornament with the ring inside. Hand her that one to put on the tree and when she opens it up and sees the ring, propose.
9. Table Setting – Make a romantic dinner with the only light being holiday lights. Have the table completely set with a place card in front of her plate that says Mrs. “ “ (her soon to be last name). When she sits down and notices the place card, kneel down beside her, hold out the ring and propose.
8. Snow Day- While she’s still sleeping, make a snow sculpture in the shape of a diamond ring and spell out “will you marry me?” in the snow. When she wakes up and sees the yard, be waiting downstairs holding the ring.
7. Sparkling Toast – Bring over a glass of champagne for a midnight toast on New Years Eve. Right before you hand it to her, slip the ring into the glass. As soon as she notices there’s something in there kneel down so she recognizes that it’s a ring and tell her that the start of the New Year sounds like a perfect time to start the journey of the rest of your lives together.
6. Horse and Carriage Ride – Call the horse and carriage company and tell them what time you’ll approximately be getting there so they have a white carriage (or horse!) ready and waiting for you. Take her on a walk downtown through the lights of the city and plan walking past the place where you pick up the horse and carriages. Hop right into the white one and tell her to jump in. She will be taken aback and you can say you wanted to do something special tonight. She’ll think that’s the surprise, but wait for the right moment during the ride to grab her hand and then slip the ring on her finger. When she looks down and notices what is going on, ask for her hand in marriage.
5. Hat and Mittens – Buy her a hat and mittens and have the ring hidden in the mittens. When she puts on the mittens and feels it, get down on one knee so she knows what it is and when she pulls it out ask her to be your wife.
4. Mistletoe – Hang a sprig of mistletoe in one of your doorways and dangle the ring from the mistletoe. When you two walk under it, point up. While she is looking up get down on one knee so when she notices the ring you’ll be in place to propose.
3. Toast/Blessing – During a family or friend party, gather everyone for a blessing over the meal or a toast and volunteer to give it. After you start the toast/blessing start talking about how thankful you are for your girl and eventually start telling her how you want to spend the rest of your life with her, before you know it people will start looking up at you, then you know what to do! Get down on one knee and show her the ring.
2. Photos – Go to all the places that mean something to you two as a couple – first date spot, favorite restaurant, outside your favorite sports team’s stadium – and take a photo of you in front of each of them. Wrap each photo separately and go in order of your dating time together, for the last one have a photo of you in front of one of your favorite spots holding a sign that says “Will you marry me?” Have a friend ready with a camera in hand and tell her you need one more photo to complete the set while pulling out the ring box.
1. Scavenger Hunt – Have a card under the tree that has a number one on the front and a clue inside that will lead her to another part of the house where she will find card number two, etc until she gets to the final card that has no hint inside and you are behind her on one knee with the ring.
